Clicking any iconographic "marker" on a map, or an area or route, will pull up interpretive information about that feature -- quotations from eyewitnesses to the events of that time; historical overviews of the place; historic and contemporary photos and audio; links to outside resources; and oral histories from indigenous New Mexicans.
To follow the stories of the people who witnessed the places and events depicted in each map, start with the window that opens when the map loads, and click Next to navigate through the state as that person (or people) did.
Bibliographic references often contain links to full-text versions of the books in question.
